How does the Tel-Tale work?

A

It works on the GSM network in the same way as a mobile phone, using SMS text messages as it's communication medium.

The Tel-Tale requires no fixed line, which means it is ideal for remote locations and there's no standing charge to pay. In addition, text messages can be used to provide an exact fault report as opposed to a common fault alert.

The only fees to pay are for the text messages which cost between 5p and 12p per transmission depending on your choice of network. The credit is topped up in the same manner as a mobile phone.

In theory just about anywhere in the UK. 99% of the UK landmass has GSM network coverage. Signal quality can vary in some locations depending on which network you use. If in doubt you can check with your network provider. The system should not be used where mobile communications devices are prohibited, i.e. hospitals, petrol stations, onboard aircraft etc.

The possibilites are endless! The Tel-Tale is compatible with any system where a switch-sensor can be used to detect a change in state. See our application examples for more information.

Installtion is very simple and requires inserting a programmed SIM card, and connecting the inputs and power supply cable via screwed terminals. Both single phase 230V and three phase 400V versions are available. Full installation instructions are provided.

This is a very simple procedure and requires absolutely no programming knowledge. It is done using a SIM programmer and Windows based software (available to purchase with the Tel-Tale). Full instructions are provided.
